FVB-001 Evaluation Board Description: Fiberxon's FVB-001 GBIC Evaluation Board is the ideal way to test and evaluate Fiberxon GBIC Transceivers. The FVB-001 GBIC Evaluation Board is compatible with all types of GBICs including long wavelength, short wavelength and copper GBICs. The FVB-001 board consists of a GBIC socket, 4 SMA connectors for high-speed differential serial data (RX+, RX-, TX+ and TX-), test points and LEDs for monitoring all other GBIC pins. The FVB-001 board is also supplied with software and a DB-25 cable for communication with a PC parallel port. Using the software that accomapnies the FVB-001 evaluation board, a PC can communicate with all module definition 4 serial identification protocol GBICs via the I2C 2-wire serial bus on GBIC pins MOD_DEF(1) and MOD_DEF(2). The included software provides a simple windows-based GUI and all of the GBIC-specified serial identification information stored in ROM in both optical and copper module definition 4 GBICs. FVB-001 Evaluation Board Specifications: The FVB-001 evaluation board requires +5V ±10%. The GBIC power supply is isolated from the board supply to accomodate both 3V and 5V GBICs. The appropriate GBIC supply voltage should be applied at J1. The impedance matching network on the four high-speed input and output ports provides a 75 Ohms termination to match the impedance of the GBIC differential line and a 50 Ohms termination on the SMA connectors to match most test equipment. The impedance matching network attenuates signals both on and off the board by 6dB. Input signals to the TX+ and TX- connectors should have amplitude between 700mV and 2000mV differential peak-to-peak to meet the module specification of 350mV to 1000mV peak-to-peak. Output signals on the RX+ and RX- connectors will have amplitude between 200mV and 500mV peak-to-peak corresponding to GBIC between 400mV and 1000mV peak-to-peak.
