FVB-002 SFP Evaluation Board Description: Fiberxon's FVB-002 SFP Evaluation Board is the best way to test and evaluate Fiberxon's Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. The FVB-002 is compatible with short wavelength and long wavelength SFP transceivers for use at data rates from 1.06 Gbit/sec to 2.5 Gbit/sec. The FVB-002 evaluation board includes the necessary software, DB25 Cable, an SFP edge connector and cage, 4 SMA connectors for high-spped differential serial data (input signals to TX+ and TX-, output signals to RX+ and RX-), test points and LEDs for monitoring all other SFP pins. Using the included software, a PC can communicate with the SFP transceiver via the I2C 2-wire serial bus on SFP pins MOD_DEF1 and MOD_DEF2. The software included with the FVB-002 evaluation board provides a simple windows-based GUI for monitoring the serial ID information available in Fiberxon's SFP transceivers. A switch is provided to assert and test the transmit disable function (S1). Another switch (S2) is provided to select the operating bit rate in those dual rate SFP transceivers that require it (not required for Fiberxon's SFP Transceivers). TX disable can be controlled either by the switch or the parallel port. Position change of the jumper will result in different control methods. When the position of the jumper J2 is at "A", TX disable will be controlled by the switch, and positions of switch S1 present different functions. "D" means TX disable, while "E" means TX enable. Similarly, a jumper governs the Rate Select control. FVB-002 SFP Evaluation Board Specifications: The FVB-002 Evaluation Board requires two supply voltage. A module supply voltage of 3.1V to 3.6V should be supplied at connector J11. A +5V ±10% supply, used for the parallel port communication, should be connected to J5. Input signals to the TX+ and TX- connectors should yield a differential swing ranging from 500mV to 2400mVm or each have a single-ended swing ranging from 250mV to 1200 mV. Output signals on the RX+ and RX- connectors may range between 185mV to 1000mV, single ended,. SFP transceivers have AC coupling on all data lines. FVB-002 Evaluation Board Layout:
