nRF2401A GENERAL DESCRIPTION The nRF2401A wireless RF transceiver is the Industry's smallest, lowest cost, lowest current consumption and low voltage supply 2.4GHz wireless RF transceiver. The nRF2401A provides global wireless equipment vendors with global 2.4GHz wireless transceiver technology at the price and complexity of lower frequencies. A "green" Pb (lead) free alternative The nRF2401A wireless RF transceiver from Nordic is a highly integrated component for wireless communication manufactured in an ultra modern 0.18µm CMOS process. The entire transceiver including all inductors and filters is integrated in a single chip that provides the end user with the lowest cost wireless solution possible. The only external components needed to make a complete RF system are a crystal and a resistor. Maximum current consumption is less than 18mA in receive mode, and 10.5mA in transmit mode @ -5dBm. The total solution fits into a 5x5mm package. The nRF2401A is designed for wireless transceiver applications in wireless game controllers, PC peripherals, wireless headsets, sports and leisure equipment, toys, RF-ID, remote control, and interactive equipment. All configuration of the nRF2401A transceiver is done via a standard serial interface. The nRF2401 wireless RF transceiver can replace IR and typical 27MHz communication in most applications. Innovative features have been embedded into the nRF2401 transceiver to reduce cost and current consumption - "DuoCeiver™" and "ShockBurst™". The nRF2401A receiver can receive on 2 channels simultaneously, for example from a wireless mouse and keyboard. This eliminates the need for adding 2 separate RX modules, so costs are halved and space is saved.
