Parallel Flash Memory

SST’s Parallel Flash (MPF) is a cost-effective flash memory that addresses mainstream flash applications that require ISP (in-system programming). These products are offered in x8 or x16 organization at single 5.0V, 2.7-3.6V and 1.65-1.95V power-supply voltages. In addition to the standard read access speed of 70 ns, SST also offers high-speed, low-voltage MPF products with access times of 45 and 55 ns. All 39 Series products use JEDEC standard packages/pinouts and command sets for ease of use.

2 K-Word sector architecture : Simplifies the firmware design and debugging

Small-Sector Flash

SST’s Small-Sector Flash (SSF) is cost-effective flash memory that brings to flash the flexibility of programming single Bytes and erasing small 128 Byte/256 Byte sectors. These products are offered in x8 organizations, at single 5.0V or 2.7-3.6V power-supply voltages.

Small-Sector Flash Advantages include:

Small sector size makes efficient use of memory space to store small records
Small sector size enables flexible and fast update. Don’t need to use large SRAM buffer and complex transfer/update/transfer cycles when updating a small 128-256byte record
Saves external buffer SRAM for MCUs with less than 256 byte internal SRAM. Such MCUs cannot directly manage Flash memory with sector size larger than 256 bytes
One SSF chip can replace traditional two chip (Flash/EPROM + EEPROM) solution
Smaller sector size (128-256 bytes) potentially increases average endurance cycles by at least 10 times compared with MPF
