What do you do at Symmetry?
As an application engineer, I answer technical questions from other engineers regarding MCUs, wireless SoCs and modules, PMICs, sensors and antennas. I assist customers in selecting a part or getting things up and running once they’ve purchased a part from Symmetry.

What’s your favorite thing about Symmetry?
The people! All of my coworkers are a joy to work with and everyone gets treated like they are part of Symmetry family. My first week here I told everyone I know how happy I was to find a place with such caring people. Five months later and I can only say even nicer things about the work environment and culture here. We are expanding quickly and there is lots of opportunity for professional development, yet there is still that small-company, friendly work atmosphere.
Please describe a specific instance of how you helped a customer with a solution.
There are honestly too many to select just one. The diversity of questions that come in keeps things interesting and I love hearing everyone’s new and exciting ideas. From measuring how many times oysters open and close per day out in the ocean, to logging the temperature of your infant as it sleeps, the requests are always intriguing and I love to answer any question a customer comes to me with. Talking through a concept and proposing possible solutions that the customer might not already have thought of is what I enjoy most.
What exciting trends do you see in our industry?
The IoT boom is just beginning. More devices connected and seamlessly talking to each other - it’s the future. I’m most excited about V2V and V2I communication. If my car could tell me that the stop light up ahead is about to turn red, and I shouldn’t bother speeding up to it - I would be so happy.
What do you like to do when you’re not working at Symmetry?
I enjoy tinkering with electronics and designing new and useful things for myself, friends and family. My 3D printer is running 24/7 and I have more tools than someone without a garage should have. When I need to get out of the house, I enjoy running by the ocean and snowboarding in the mountains.
