The RS-RL78G13-2200CC Companion Card for the Renesas RL78/G13 MCU's Starter and Demo kits comes as a ready to plug in adapter card, enabling the user to easily add future-proof, ultra low power 802.11n Wi-Fi technology. The Companion Card has Redpine Signal's RS9110-N-11-22 module which belongs to the Connect-io-n family of modules. The RS9110-N-11-22 module comes as a fully integrated module with an antenna and frequency reference and also embedded Wi-Fi and TCP/IP stacks, thus reducing the overall integration and development effort by a large margin. The companion card comes bundled with a comprehensive API library to configure the Wi-Fi module and transmit and receive data and also a demo application for the RL78/G13, in full source code.

The companion card can be used to evaluate the features and performance of the module in addition to the RL78/G13 and its peripherals by giving the user a simple platform on which code can be run in only minutes from opening the box. It can also prove to be an invaluable development tool for custom prototypes using the I/O expansion headers on the RL78/G13 Board. The headers can be used to connect components like sensors and communicate the data from these sensors to a remote location using the RS9110-N-11-22 module.
