The latest device in Nordic Semiconductor's extensive portfolio of 2.4GHz wireless IC's merges high speed with ultra-low power and ultra-low cost. The new nRF24L01 from Nordic will enable ultra-low cost and power applications such as wireless desktops and intelligent sports equipment. The chip is a perfect fit for advanced multimedia solutions like Voice over IP (VoIP). This is possible through the innovative MultiCeiver solution in which on-chip hardware supports up to six simultaneous wireless devices. The nRF24L01 from Nordic represents a breakthrough for coin cell battery operated equipment utilizing the 2.4GHz frequency. The nRF24L01 more than doubles the battery life when compared to existing 2.4GHz RF solutions on the market today, offering higher data speeds than Bluetooth with a fraction of the power. The nRF24L01's Enhanced ShockBurst™ feature eliminates the need for an application MCU with a high clock speed and large memory capacity. The nRF24L01 from Nordic is designed for easy regulatory approval, worldwide. The nRF24L01 includes a Carrier Sense signal which is used to detect frequency stationary items such as WLANs. The high speed of the nRF24L01 combined with its fast switching times nearly eliminates the chance of collisions with other frequency-hopping systems such as Bluetooth.
