GainSpan Receives TELEC Certification for Wi-Fi Modules
Jan 23, 2013
San Jose, CA – January 23, 2013 - GainSpan® Corporation, a leader in low power Wi-Fi for the Internet of Things, has received certification from the Telecom Engineering Center (TELEC) for its GS1011MxxS family of size-optimized Wi-Fi modules. With TELEC certification, GainSpan's GS1011MIPS, GS1011MEPS and GS1011MEES modules are now certified for deployment in Japan.
The GS1011MxxS modules are some of the smallest on the market. At just 19.4 mm x 28.7 mm, the modules provide a significant reduction in footprint and offer an easy and cost-effective way to integrate Wi-Fi into the exploding number of products and applications that comprise the "Internet of Things." The GS1011MIPS provides low power Wi-Fi connectivity with +9dBm of transmit output power, while the GS1011MEPS/GS1011MEES are extended range solutions offering best in class +18dBm transmit power.
The GS1011MxxS line features UART and SPI interfaces for ease of integration with any 8/16/32-bit microcontroller. The modules are preloaded with serial to Wi-Fi firmware for complete Wi-Fi functionality and offer advanced networking features and capabilities not typically available with other Wi-Fi modules.
"Now that our size-optimized modules have been certified by TELEC, any product using a GainSpan GS1011MxxS Wi-Fi module can now be shipped in Japan," said Hiroki Teraoka, Japan Country Manager for GainSpan. "This is welcome news for Japanese customers who have been considering using these small footprint, ultra-low power and low cost modules to design small, space constrained connected devices, such as wristbands for tracking."
The GS1011MxxS family of TELEC-certified, size-optimized modules can be purchased through SemiconductorStore.com; an authorized GainSpan distributor. TELEC is designated as a certification authority by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. TELEC certification provides assurance that products have passed a series of tests for consistency with Japanese Radio Law technical regulations.
