Nordic major sponsor of new Bluetooth SIG training initiative targeting IoT developers

May 8, 2015
Oslo, Norway 2015/05/08 - Nordic Semiconductor today announces that it is the main ‘platinum’ sponsor of a new low-cost training series initiative introduced by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) that will target developers interested in getting into the Internet of Things (IoT) and will include a global set of one-day training events starting this month in the U.S.
Called the Bluetooth Innovation Training Series, the Bluetooth SIG says it will arm developers through hands-on practical training and in-depth knowledge with the skill set needed to build connected products and applications with Bluetooth® Smart (formerly known as Bluetooth low energy) wireless technology and bring them to market faster than ever before in IoT segments such as wearables, smart home, and wireless audio.
The Bluetooth SIG has already announced a series of training event dates and locations including May 20 in San Jose, U.S; May 27 in Seoul, South Korea; June 10 in Berlin, Germany; August 17 in Shanghai, China; September 14 in London, U.K; and October 1 in Boston, U.S.
Developers can register for any of the trainings at The SIG adds that space is limited to offer the best, firsthand learning environment and that the program is designed for both newcomers to Bluetooth looking for a springboard to create their first Bluetooth products, and the more experienced looking for insights on how to do it better and faster.
Led by industry experts, the Bluetooth SIG says the one-day sessions will cover: Bluetooth Smart fundamentals, testing tools, best practices on adding connectivity to everyday objects, and trainings from Nordic Semiconductor and Frontline Test Equipment. Attendees will also get to work with the SIG's new software development toolkit – Bluetooth Developer Studio – that the SIG claims reduces Bluetooth education time by up to 50 percent and shortens development time by as much as 70 percent.
"Bluetooth is key to our connected lives, and will be an integral part of the Internet of Things as we move forward,” comments Steve Hegenderfer, Director of Developer Programs at the Bluetooth SIG. “You also don't need to be a wireless or Bluetooth expert to get great value out of this training. If you want to be a part of the connected world as a developer, we'll introduce you to everything you need to get started during the Innovation Series.”
“Nordic Semiconductor recognizes that with the standardization of Bluetooth Smart the development and product differentiation challenge has shifted from hardware engineering to also include firmware and software apps,” adds Geir Langeland, Nordic Semiconductor's Director of Sales & Marketing.Langeland continues: “That’s why Nordic Semiconductor is giving developers ever more open and easy access to our nRF51 Series Bluetooth Smart development kits, tools, and reference designs; prioritizing technical support to all customers regardless of size or experience; and proud to be the main platinum sponsor of this really great Bluetooth SIG training initiative around the world that will include Nordic’s nRF51 Series Bluetooth Smart development platform.”
