Nordic Semiconductor demonstrates IPv6 over Bluetooth Smart and hosts design partners’ innovative wireless products at CES Asia 2015
May 25, 2015
Oslo, Norway 2015/05/25 - Ultra-low-power (ULP) RF specialist Nordic Semiconductor ASA (OSE: NOD) today confirms it will highlight its nRF51 IoT Software Development Kit (SDK) and demonstrate IPv6 over Bluetooth® Smart for the thousands of visitors and volume buyers who will converge on CES Asia 2015. The company is also confirming details of exhibits, demonstrations, and partner companies that it will be hosting at booth N1A70, in Hall N1 in the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), from May 25-27, 2015.
Nordic’s IPv6 over Bluetooth Smart protocol stack for its nRF51 Series Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) enables small, low-cost, ultra-low-power Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The nRF51 IoT SDK is a complete IPv6-ready Internet Protocol Suite for the nRF51 Series Bluetooth Smart SoCs. The SDK enables native and interoperable IP-based connectivity between a Bluetooth Smart 'thing' and a cloud service. It also enables Bluetooth Smart to be used in large, distributed, cloud-connected, heterogeneous networks such as home, industrial, and enterprise automation.
Earlier this year, Nordic was named a CES 2015 Innovation Awards Honoree for the nRF51822 Bluetooth Smart and 2.4GHz proprietary multiprotocol SoC with S110 SoftDevice v7.0. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
Companies from North America, Europe, and Asia which are using Nordic’s nRF51 Series Bluetooth Smart and ANT+™ solutions in a number of innovative applications will demonstrate and talk about their products at the booth. The partner companies are as follows:

"CES Asia 2015, whose venue is China's dynamic technology hub of Shanghai, follows in the tradition of CES International, the world's leading showcase for innovation in consumer electronics," comments Steel Ytterdal, Nordic Semiconductor’s Director Sales & Marketing in Asia. "The industry is now poised for its next big advance, the hugely important Internet of Things or 'IoT', and Nordic is using the event to showcase its IPv6 over Bluetooth Smart stack and the nRF51 IoT SDK. Internet Protocol over Bluetooth Smart is a core enabling technology for the IoT."
"The enabling architecture of the nRF51 Series was recognised earlier this year by the CES Innovation Award judges," adds Ytterdal. "The unique nRF51 Series has unleashed a wave of innovation on the part of our design partners, and their brilliant engineering is right here at the show, a key focus of the Nordic display."
CES Asia serves as the premier event for the consumer technology industry both regionally and internationally, showcasing the full breadth and depth of innovation in the Asian marketplace. CES Asia provides access to innovative companies within China, across Asia and around the world. The show will span more than 10,000 net square metres of exhibit space in this its inaugural year, with a major focus on connectivity and the Internet of Things.
