Los Angeles, CA, 5 September 2008 Ė PANdrive PD-140-42-SE is the latest product from TRINAMIC Motion Control GmbH & Co.KG. This mechatronic unit contains a powerful motion control element in combination with a 42 mm stepper motor (NEMA 17). As an additional benefit, this series also has the proprietary encoder function sensOstepTM (recognisable by the SE in the product code). This encoder helps exact positioning in the microstep modus and / or stall detection. The hall-effect-sensor allows an absolute resolution of 4096 impulses per turn. This economical integration into the electronics of the PANdrive provides an encoder feedback without significant additional cost, thus opening additional application fields. Programming and motion control are done with TMCL (TRINAMIC Motion Control Language). It is very easy to program movements with commands for position and rotation with this protocol. Comprehensive programs can be stored in the on-board EPROM for stand-alone-operation. The PC-based software development environment TMCL-IDE contains an integrated debugger. As an option, TRINAMIC offers a CANopen firmware. USB or optional RS232, RS458, or CAN are the available serial interfaces. Small JST connectors for connecting the interfaces, voltage supply and other I/O modules are a readily confectioned part of the whole package. The stepper motor is controlled as usual by TRINAMICís own motion control ICs. The motion control profiles are calculated in real time in the hardware. Parameters like position, velocity and acceleration can be adjusted during operation. This is true for TRINAMICís motion control elements in general. An economic and compact design is the aim of all engineering processes. As the motion control is done in the hardware, this saves CPU capacity. The software can be kept simple which saves engineering and service costs.
